Description
nekumari (CPPM) will migrate the low-level b-taggers to release 21.9 and study the performance of the low-level b-tagging algorithms in the context of the ITk upgrade. The transition to release 21.9 is crucial to take advantage of ATLAS b-tagging developments since 2016. She will in particular pay attention to the tagger performance in the |eta| > 2.5 region, which has not been taken into account in Run 1/2 optimization efforts, and make improvements to the impact-parameter and vertexing taggers in this region where possible. For instance, small changes to the tracking selection in this region may result in significant gains. Any code relevant to this task will be checked into GitLab and documented with a README file so that future studies can be performed using the same framework. An internal document outlining the results of these studies will also be provided.
